I am currently working on a public art project in the form of a life-size racehorse! It's called understARTersorders and is in aid of the Injured Jockeys and Sensational Kids charities. The horse will be temporarily located in key locations throughout May and June, with the final event being held at the opening of the redeveloped Curragh Racecourse at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby in June.
My horse is called "Spiorad na Machairí" or "Spirit of the Plains"
A horse traveling through the plains would experience the green grass, the yellow furze, and the various subtle greys and pinks that make up the sky, but more importantly it would experience the sense of grounding, tranquility and oneness with nature that this exceptional and rare landscape shares with all those who are lucky enough to use it.
My wish throughout this project was to respect the anatomy of the horse while simultaneously allowing it to become one with the landscape.
